Since as early as the 1920s Clayton has been committed to the advancement of the technology of climate control within the public transportation industry. During the 1960s and 1970s Clayton was the specified heating supplier for all London buses, and throughout the 1990s we were heavily involved in designing, supplying and installing air-conditioning within the UK bus industry. More recent developments include designing the first driver-only air-conditioning system to be fitted to rear-engined buses, developing the first dedicated driver’s air-conditioning application to be directly incorporated into the demisting system, and producing electrically driven air-conditioning systems for installation and retro-fit to both single and double-deck vehicles. In addition to this we were one of the first companies in transportation climate control to achieve the coveted ISO 9001 European Standard.
We currently manufacture a wide range of heating and air-conditioning products for the worldwide bus market, ranging from both standard and blown-air convector heating to joint air-conditioning and heating demister boxes, as well as individual heaters and blower units and complete air-conditioning systems. In addition to this we are able to supply spares and parts for various makes of heating and air-conditioning systems, including Clayton, Sutrak, Thermo-King, Heavac and Hispacold.
